EDC & Gaston College Host EDPNC Regional Meeting

The Gaston County Economic Development Commission (EDC) is pleased to announce that on July 18 & 19, Gaston College and the Gaston County EDC hosted the business recruitment team of the Economic Development of North Caro-lina for one of their statewide regional meetings. The two day meetings were held in the conference room of the Center for Ad-vanced Manufacturing on the main campus in Dallas. The purpose of these EDPNC regional meetings is to give the local eco-nomic development partners the opportunity to update the group. Nine local and regional agencies participated during this event.
Mrs. Jill Lutz, Associate Vice President of Economic and Workforce Development, provided the welcoming remarks on behalf of Gaston College. In addition to the welcome, Mrs. Lutz gave an brief overview of current training activities and a history of the Center for Advanced Manufacturing. Mr. Donny Hicks, Executive Director of the Gaston EDC, presented the various programs and activities of the EDC related to existing industry support and workforce development. He also commented on the Apple Creek development, Mt Holly industrial site and the Kings Mountain Corporate Center.
The EDPNC and officials from regional economic development agencies enjoyed a dinner at Nellie’s Southern Kitchen located in downtown Belmont.
