Tosaf USA to Construct Advanced Polymers Manufacturing Plant in Bessemer City
December 12, 2014- The Gaston County Economic Development Commission is pleased to announce that Tosaf USA will purchase approximately 18 acres from Gaston County in the Southridge Business Park in Bessemer City.The company plans to construct a compounding and master batching production center to serve the US market. The facility will house these functions to serve the plastic molders and processors. The initial investment will be $13.1 million. The company expects to employ up to 75 persons.
The parent company of Tosaf USA, Tosaf Compounds Ltd., is based in Israel and specializes in the manufacturing and marketing of advanced polymers and compounds. The company’s products are used by plastic molders and processors serving a wide range of industries including automotive, medical, electrical and packaging. “We are excited about the Bessemer City plant being the first location in the US market and establishing operations in North Carolina,” said Amos Megides, Chairman of the Board of Tosaf Compounds, Ltd. “I personally appreciate the State and local assistance with our search for the best location for this facility. I appreciate the kind remarks from the State Representatives and Senators and hope that they will continue to support Tosaf USA as we apply for the various State programs outlined by NC Commerce.”
Mr. Tracey Philbeck, Chairman of the Gaston County Board of Commissioners said; “We are excited to welcome Tosaf USA to Gaston County for their newest production facility. This is great news for our community and especially for Bessemer City. We are extremely happy to have another international company in to locate in our County.” He further stated, “Tosaf USA will fit very nicely into Gaston County’s growing international corporate community. The recruitment of global companies was a key reason for the County’s extension of the road, water and sewer in the Southridge Business Park. We knew that if we were to compete for quality projects, Gaston County had to provide the proper physical attributes for business. We look forward to the next step of this project in working with the State and Norfolk Southern Railroad to bring the rail spur onto the site.” Chairman Philbeck added, “Gaston County constantly strives to provide an outstanding business environment for all of our corporate citizens. Gaston County will continue to provide service ‘after the sale’ for Tosaf USA through our EDC’s Existing Industry Program. This program has assisted many of our community’s corporate citizens with their expansions.”
